Marquita Bolden, MSW, LCSW
Marquita is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who trained at the University of Pennsylvania. While at Penn she studied at the Center for Cognitive Therapy, where she specialized in mood and anxiety disorders. Since her graduate work, Marquita has worked at community mental health agencies providing outpatient therapy to children, adolescents and adults from diverse populations. Most recently she has taken on work as a therapist in a specialized trauma program for children and adolescents where her role involves avid advocacy as well as treatment.. Marquita believes that the therapeutic relationship is a supportive partnership of mutual respect and honesty, with both the therapist and client supporting the connection with differing yet equally important strengths. Her goal is to create a healing space based in a trusting client/therapist relationship where there is emotional safety to explore and grow.
Paula Brown, M.C.A.T., BC-DMT, NCC, LPC
Paula has worked with children, adolescents and adults in the Delaware Valley for the past 20 years. She has worked as a Dance/Movement therapist and a Licensed Professional Counselor, giving her a unique gentle therapeutic stance that stems from combining talk therapy with body movement and awareness. Paula has taken a leadership role in the Philadelphia community offering workshops, supervising student training and directing an outpatient clinic, which makes her uniquely qualified as a therapist in private practice who stays on the cutting edge of treatment trends. In addition to addressing more common concerns such as anxiety, depression, life transitions, grief, ADHD and Asperger's syndrome, Paula maintains a strong interest in providing group therapy, prompting her to form an ongoing group at Hornstein, Platt and Associates for mothers coping with child rearing.
Nora Fitzgerald, MSW, LCSW
Nora Fitzgerald is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has been treating individuals, couples and families for over ten years in the Philadelphia area. She completed her graduate degree at Fordham University in New York and has specialized training in couples and family therapy from Philadelphia Child and Family Therapy Training Center. In addition to her work with couples and families, Nora enjoys working with individuals who are experiencing issues involving depression, anxiety and life cycle transitions. When not seeing clients at Hornstein Platt & Associates, she also serves families as the Director of a Family Therapy program.
Patricia A. Harnett, MSS, MLSP, LCSW
Pat is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has treated children, adolescents and adults in individual, family and couples therapy for over 25 years. In addition to having Masters degrees in Law and Social Policy and Clinical Social Work from Bryn Mawr College, she has extensive training and experience in the treatment of anxiety disorders, ADD, ADHD, learning disabilities, eating disorders and bereavement.
When not at our practice, Ms. Harnett is an adjunct college professor in the Social Sciences and has been a consultant to family law and civil rights/employment attorneys providing court mandated and voluntary co-parenting therapy, reunification therapy and evaluations for custody and sexual harassment cases. Pat's background in education and law has afforded her a unique clinical perspective allowing her to engage clients in a compassionate and comprehensive manner.
Betty Hartzell, Ph.D., ATR-BC LPC
Betty is an Assistant Professor and the Assistant Director of Art Therapy in the Hahnemann Creative Arts Therapy Program at Drexel University.
Prior to this position she was employed for twenty years as a therapist, supervisor and administrator in a number of Delaware Valley hospitals and agencies. She has presented on art therapy both regionally and nationally. Having taught at four Philadelphia Colleges and Universities in both undergraduate and graduate levels has kept Dr. Hartzell's knowledge base well rounded and up to the minute, making her a skilled and knowledgeable practitioner. Her addition of creative arts thought and interventions in therapy contribute to her ability to offer many ways to work on a wide variety of concerns.
Gayle Gates, MA, BC-DMT, NCC, LPC
Gayle Gates is a Clinical Assistant Professor and Associate Director of the Dance/Movement therapy Program at Drexel University. A Licensed Professional Counselor with over thirty years of experience as a therapist, teacher and supervisor, Gayle has special expertise in child and adolescent disorders including ADHD, Autistic Spectrum Disorders, Disruptive Behavior Disorders and Learning Disabilities. She brings this expertise into her work with adults who have ADHD and Aspergers Disorder, in addition to maintaining a general practice. Gayle provides therapy from a psychodynamic, developmental and systems perspective, making her sessions interactive and promoting behavioral change. With her background in verbal and non-verbal therapies, Gayle helps her clients understand their personal struggles and supports their addressing these concerns in both creative and practical ways.
Dara Herskovits, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.
Dara Herskovits is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. She completed her Masters in Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, where she received specialized training at the Center for Cognitive Therapy. In addition to her work at Hornstein, Platt and Associates, she has worked in college mental health for the past several years. She also has experience in addictions research & treatment, and community mental health. Dara uses a psychodynamic approach in her work with clients, utilizing cognitive-behavioral and motivational interviewing techniques as appropriate. She enjoys working with individuals presenting with a wide range of issues and concerns, including depression, anxiety, relationship struggles, life transitions, and substance abuse/addictions.
Radka Jurkech, M.Ed.,LMFT
Radka is a licensed marriage and family therapist and a clinical member of AAMFT. In addition to traditional training in individual and group therapy, Radka completed a post-graduate training in marital/couples therapy and a certification program in family therapy. Some of her other training and clinical experience include treatment of anxiety (CBT), treatment of eating disorders, and addiction counseling. Throughout her 20 years of practice, Radka has strived to integrate a relational and systemic perspective with the client's individual inter-subjective experience in order to develop a collaborative and personally meaningful treatment process. Her approach focuses on both, accomplishment of more pressing short term goals, as well as long term goals and personal growth.
Hollie Levy-Mack, M.S.W., L.C.S.W.
Hollie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Having trained at the University of Pennslvania, she obtained certification in cognitive therapy and incorporates many cognitive behavioral techniques into the treatment she provides. Ms. Levy-Mack specializes in the treatment of Mood, Anxiety and Eating Disorders in addition to general relationship concerns and navigating life transitions.
Courtney Liggera, Psy.D.
Courtney is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with nearly ten years of clinical experience gained in a variety of settings including schools, outpatient and inpatient mental health facilities and a college counseling center. She has worked with individuals, families, children and adults coping with a variety of common concerns such as depression, anxiety, stress and relationships, and more chronic issues including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and personality disorders.
In addition to her broad clinical background, Dr. Liggera has gained expertise as trauma-focused clinician providing individual and family therapy and community-based interventions to children who have experienced traumas suffered from neglect and abuse. She has also often served as a clinical advocate testifying in court on behalf of her clients’ needs and well-being. Encountering Post Traumatic Stress Disorder on a regular basis has put Courtney on the cutting edge of treating stress from an integrated body and mind and social perspective. Augmenting to her holistic perspective, Courtney has confidence in the power of psychodynamic/insight oriented therapy. She believes that the key to a successful therapeutic experience is being able to connect with yourself and a trustworthy guide in a safe and calm environment, so that the root of difficulties and the path to overcoming them can become clear.
Beth McNamara, M.A., BC-DMT, L.P.C., N.C.C.
Beth is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Board Certified Movement Therapist. This dual background allows her to weave expressive arts and traditional psychotherapy into an approach that speaks to healing both the mind and body. She has worked in various treatment settings over the past 10 years including inpatient psychiatric hospitals, community mental health, forensics and drug and alcohol rehabilitation. In her current practice Beth specializes in treating Mood and Anxiety disorders, Eating Disorders, coping with life transitions and issues of abuse and traumatic life events. It is Beth's hope to use her client-centered, strengths based counseling approach to create a safe and supportive environment in which you can use your whole self to navigate self-exploration, healing and optimum health.
Anita L. Ringo, L.C.S.W., MCRIM
Anita brings twenty-five years of social work experience to her practice. She treats a wide range of psychological issues from the challenges of the chronically mentally ill, and clients with borderline personality disorder to the anxiety and adjustment concerns of clients who function at a high level. Ms. Ringo specializes in providing the directive approaches of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to provide skills to immediately apply to manage troubling moods, behavior and stressful situations.
Mandy Schaller, MSW, LCSW
Mandy is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who has worked in various treatment settings over the past ten years after completing her graduate work at Virginia Commonwealth University. She specializes in early childhood development and issues of abuse, trauma, loss., depression and anxiety. In addition to these areas, Mandy has facilitated groups with children, adolescents and adults in the areas of anger management, proactive parenting, and parenting through divorce. She utilizes strengths-based and cognitive-behavioral approaches to collaboratively develop goals that set individuals and families up for success. Mandy uses a variety of techniques such as art, play, and yoga to augment her therapy when helpful. All of her work is based in establishing a safe, working partnership towards growth, acceptance, and mindfulness.
Meredith Seltzer, MS, LPC, NCC
Meredith is a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Nationally Certified Counselor and a Certified School Counselor. In her graduate work at Villanova University and working in the Philadelphia School District she has gained extensive experience in treating challenges for children and adolescents that may impede with academic success and emotional well being. In addition to her general practice, Meredith specializes in treating ADHD, anxiety, depression, peer and family conflicts, and learning disabilities. She has also helped families and adults cope with these and related issues. Meredith’s style is warm, respectful and interactive with the goal of creating a strong working relationship as a basis for personal change and emotional growth.
Julie Solomon, MSS, LCSW
Julie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who practices therapy with an eclectic style, often integrating mindfulness, psychodynamic and insight-oriented approaches into her foundation of cognitive behavioral therapy. In addition to treating general concerns such as anxiety, depression and intimacy issues, Julie's training at at Bryn Mawr College and the University of Pennsylvania brought her expertise in treating substance dependence. She also specializes in working with families and adolescents from her work in community mental health. In session, Julie considers the client to be the expert on themselves. Her role is to help you peel away your obstructive layers to bring out your true self and potential. Julie creates a comfortable, relaxed environment that acknowledges change can be difficult. Her strongly held belief is that in an environment of trust, therapy can be an amazing and growthful experience.
