Dialectical Behavioral Therapy

Dialectical behavior therapy, or DBT, utilizes a cognitive behavioral and mindfulness approach to improve relationships with others, regulate emotions, and widen perspective. DBT focuses on increasing coping and therapeutic skills in the four categories; mindfulness, interpersonal effectiveness, distress tolerance, and emotion regulation.  You and your therapist work to find balance between acceptance and making positive change. Dialectical behavior therapy may be particularly helpful for those who have difficulty regulating their emotions or have self-harming tendencies.
